In the present study, the biochemical examination of animals inoculated with Dalton’s lymphoma ascites was performed. Significant changes were found that indicates the toxic effect of the tumor. MEPO significantly reduced the viability of tumor cell at doses of 100mg/kg (4.54±0.009) and 200 mg/kg (4.09±0.057). However, for non viability cells, the values were 4.66±0.035 for 100 mg/kg and 3.60±0.011 for 200 mg/kg respectively, increasing the lifespan of the treated group as compared with those of DLA control mice. The enzymatic and nonenzymatic antioxidant systems were also enhanced in the MEPO-treated group. The potential of MEPO as an inhibitor of DLA-induced intracellular oxidative stress was demonstrated by the reduction of lipid peroxidation and the augmentation of SOD and CAT in MEPO-treated mice. Thus, MEPO demonstrated remarkable in vitro and in vivo antitumor activity against DLA in mice.
