Abstract

 

Synthesis of some new pyrrole derivatives using ZnCl2, AlCl3-SiO2 as catalyst under microwave irradiation

Pyrroles derivatives were synthesized in moderate to high yields in one-pot reaction from the corresponding ketones and 4-hydroxyproline, in the presence of catalytic amount of ZnCl2/ AlCl3 mixture supported on silica gel (ZnCl2/ AlCl3-SiO2) as a non-toxic, inexpensive and easily available reagent, under microwave irradiation. This new produces products in high yields (82-93%) and very short reaction time (5-7 min). These compounds were characterized on the basis of their elemental analyses and IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and MS spectra data.
